LADY GAGA Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (born March 28, 1986), better known by her stage name Lady Gaga, is an American pop singer-songwriter. After enrolling at 's New York University in 2003 and later performing in the rock music scene of New York City's ,Lower East Side she signed with Streamline Records, an imprint of Interscope Records. During her early time at Interscope, she worked as a songwriter for fellow label artists and captured the attention of recording artist Akon who, recognizing her vocal abilities, signed her to his own label, Kon Live Distribution. Gaga came to prominence following the release of her debut studio album The Fame (2008), which was a critical and commercial success and achieved international popularity with the singles "Just Dance" and "Poker Face". The album reached number one on the record charts of six countries, topped the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart while simultaneously peaking at number two on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States and accomplished positions within the top ten worldwide. Achieving similar worldwide success, The Fame Monster (2009), its follow-up, produced a further three global chart-topping singles "Bad Romance", "Telephone" and "Alejandro" and allowed her to embark on her second global concert tour, The Monster Ball Tour, just months after having finished her first, The Fame Ball Tour. Her second studio album Born This Way (2011) topped the charts in all major musical markets after the arrival of its singles "Born This Way", "Judas" and "The Edge of Glory"—the first-mentioned achieved the number-one spot in countries worldwide and was the fastest-selling single in the history of iTunes, selling one million copies in five days.[3] Influenced by glam rock singers such as David Bowie and Freddie Mercury, as well as dance-pop artists like Madonna and Michael Jackson, Gaga is well-recognized for her outré and ever-changing sense of style in music, in fashion, in performance and in her music videos. She also appeared in a very small role as a mischievous classmate in the television drama series The Sopranos in a 2001 episode titled "The Telltale Moozadell".[27] At 16, she began to sing and play in front of live audiences and unsuccessfully auditioned for parts in New York shows.[19] When her time at the Convent of the Sacred Heart came to an end, her mother encouraged her to apply to New York University to study drama and performance – specifically the Collaborative Arts Project 21 (CAP21), which is a faculty of the Tisch School of the Arts.[19] Aged 17, Gaga gained early admission and lived in a NYU dorm on 11th Street. There, she studied music and sharpened her songwriting skills by composing essays and analytical papers focusing on topics such as art, religion, social issues and politics.[17][28] Gaga wrote a thesis on pop artists Spencer Tunick and Damien Hirst; research that prepared her for her future career focus in "music, art, sex and celebrity."[29] Gaga felt that she was more creative than some of her classmates. "Once you learn how to think about art, you can teach yourself," she said. Being part of such a prestigious performance course, Gaga tried for and passed auditions while at CAP21,[19] including the part of an unsuspecting diner customer where MTV's Boiling Points, a prank reality television show, was being filmed.[30] However, by the second semester of her sophomore year, she withdrew from the school to focus on her musical career.[31] Her father agreed to pay her rent for a year, on the condition that she re-enroll at Tisch if she was unsuccessful. "I left my entire family, got the cheapest apartment I could find, and ate shit until somebody would listen," she said.[26]

Owl City is an American electronica musical project by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Adam Young formed in 2007 in Owatonna, Minnesota. Young created the project while experimenting with music in his parents' basement. Like many musicians who achieved success in the era between 2005 and 2009, Owl City developed a following on the music and social networking site Myspace in the late 2000s before signing with Universal Republic in 2008.

After two independent albums, Owl City gained mainstream popularity with the 2009 major label debut album Ocean Eyes, which spawned the quadruple-platinum[1] hit single "Fireflies". The album was certified Platinum in the United States in April 2010.[1]
In 2011, he released his third album titled All Things Bright and Beautiful.



Early years (2007–2009)

Suffering from insomnia while working loading Coca-Cola trucks in his hometown, Owatonna, Minnesota, Young turned to composing music.[2][3][4] He began uploading songs recorded in his parents' basement to Myspace.[4][5] He started to receive favorable attention for his music and then helped cultivate this nascent fanbase by being an open and accessible web presence, responding to any messages he received and constantly posting blogs.[6] His manager Steve Burksy later highlighted the significance of Young's engaging online manner in building his following saying: "People feel like they know him, like they've got a direct connection to him because of how he approaches his connection with them online."[6] Through a deal with the digital aggregator CD Baby, he then started making the songs available for sale through iTunes.[6] In 2007, Owl City released an EP titled Of June, followed by the 2008 release of the album Maybe I'm Dreaming. Of June reached #15 on the Billboard Electronic Albums chart, and Maybe I'm Dreaming peaked on the same chart at #13.[7]

The viral phenomenon that was building through Myspace caught the attention of Universal Republic presidents Avery and Monte Lipman who approached Young with a view to signing the artist.[6] Republic recommended Young partner up with 27-year-old manager Steve Bursky of Foundations Artist Management and the two began working together in late 2008. When later asked by HitQuarters why the label chose him for a major label act given his relative inexperience, Burksy said:

"I think they saw Owl City as representing the future of our business. This idea of a kid in a tiny town in rural U.S. being able to make songs in his basement that sound like Top 40 radio could never have happened ten years ago. By hiring a young management company who understands the business circa 2011 over a seasoned industry vet, who might not understand the online spaces well, showed a lot of understanding of where this kid was going to end up having success."[6]

Owl City's label deal with Universal Republic was finally confirmed in February 2009.[8] According to Bursky there was initially some disagreement about the direction Owl City should follow, telling HitQuarters: "They were ready to send him into the studio with big producers and polish him up to try to become this thing that he wasn't. But we put our foot down and said, 'Look, the reason you signed this kid is because it’s working. Whatever it is about him - his music, his interaction with his fans, his brilliance in the online space - these things are connecting with people, and as soon as you change that you lose what’s special about this artist.' Asking Alexandria are an English metalcore band from York, North Yorkshire. Founded in 2008 when Ben Bruce (lead guitar) contacted his old companions upon returning to England after residing in Dubai. The current line-up of the group consists of Ben Bruce, Danny Worsnop (vocals), Cameron Liddell (rhythm guitar), Sam Bettley (bass guitar) and James Cassells (drums).

Asking Alexandria have their roots in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, wherein guitarist Ben Bruce started a band and released one full-length album (titled The Irony of Your Perfection) with the group under the name Asking Alexandria. The band shortly afterwards broke-up and Bruce made a statement that at later date that the band known as Asking Alexandria from Dubai only had the name for about a month before leading to their disbandment, hence the band never embarked on a tour.
In 2008, Bruce moved back to England, leaving behind his former bandmates. However, Bruce had no plans on putting his musical career on hold and not long after the move he started fresh with new members, though deciding to carry on the name Asking Alexandria. Bruce has stated that he was the one that created this title, that he still liked it and the meaning/reason behind the name still remained, and therefore decided to continue it in the new project.[1] He also made an emphasised statement in the same blog post that the current Asking Alexandria is not the same band that wrote The Irony of Your Perfection, in style nor members,[1] hence they are two different bands, despite their links. The same statement has been emphasised in interviews and is known to still be a confusion to many fans.
Asking Alexandria, since their formation in 2008, has had some member changes, including going from a six-piece to a five-piece, with the departure of synthesist Ryan Binns.[2] The last known change was bassist Sam Bettley, who replaced Joe Lancaster in January 2009.[3] Lancaster played his final show at Fibbers in their hometown York on 4 January.[4] The band left for the United States the day after the show to promote their music through shows, as well as to prepare for the recording of their debut album.
After spending 2008 and the first months of 2009 touring, the band recorded their debut studio album between 19 May and 16 June 2009 at The Foundation Recording Studios in Connersville, Indiana, United States with producer Joey Sturgis.[5] They announced their signing with Sumerian Records shortly after finishing the recording and released their debut album, Stand Up and Scream, on 15 September 2009 through their new label. The band spent 2009 focusing on gaining success in the United States, touring with well known bands such as Alesana, Enter Shikari, The Bled and Evergreen Terrace, amongst others.

Avril Lavigne dilahirkan disebuah kota kecil, Napanee, Ontario. Kemampuan Avril dalam bernyanyi telah diketahui sejak ia berumur 2 tahun, ketika ibunya mengatakan bahwa Avril telah mulai ikut menyanyi lagu-lagu rohani di gereja. Keluarga Avril pindah ke Napanee saat dia berumur 5 tahun. Pada tahun 1998, Avril memenangkan kompetisi bernyanyi dalam tour resmi penyanyi Kanada, Shania Twain. Avril menyanyikan lagu Shania yang berjudul What Made You Say That.

Album ini cukup mengejutkan, karena Avril mengubah gaya bernyanyinya yang sebelumnya sangat kental dengan rock dan warna-warna gelap, menjadi lebih ceria dan berwarna pink. Album ini mempunyai hits singel lagu "Girlfriend", "When You're Gone", "Hot", dan "The Best Damn Thing".

Avril pun pernah beberapa kali mengisi soundtrack film, diantaranya adalah film Eragon dengan singel "Keep Holding On" dan yang terbaru, film Alice in Wonderland dengan singel berjudul "Alice".

Bring Me the Horizon adalah band metalcore Inggris dari Sheffield, Yorkshire, yang dibentuk pada tahun 2004. Mereka saat ini menandatangani kontrak dengan Terlihat Records Kebisingan di Inggris, Epitaph Records di AS dan untuk Shock Records di Australia.

Bring Me the Horizon dimulai tahun 2004.

Band ini awalnya masuk ke Tiga puluh Days of Night Records dan merupakan band pertama yang menandatangani kontrak dengan label tersebut.

Mereka merilis debut album Menghitung Berkat pada bulan Oktober 2006 di Inggris dan pada bulan Agustus 2007 di Amerika Serikat.

Bring Me the Horizon studio rekaman album kedua mereka Bunuh Diri Musim di Swedia dengan Fredrik Nordström. Album ini dirilis pada bulan September 2008.

Band ini memulai tur utama pertama mereka di AS, juga tampil di Warped Tour 2008. Bring Me the Horizon juga bergabung Mindless Self Indulgence, Dalam Kasus Api, Black Tide dan Dir en grey di dalam Kerrang! dan tak kenal ampun 2009 Inggris tur. Musisi dan produser ditampilkan di album termasuk Ben Weinman dari The Dillinger Escape Plan, Sonny Moore, L'Amour La Morgue (Ian Watkins dari Lostprophets), Utah Saints dan Shawn Crahan dari Slipknot [5].

Pada bulan Maret 2009, gitaris Curtis Ward keluar dari band tersebut;. Ia digantikan oleh gitaris Australia Jona Weinhofen [6]

Album ketiga band debut di nomor 17 di Billboard 200 di Amerika Serikat [7], nomor 13 di UK Album Chart, [8] dan nomor 1 di Chart Album Australia [9], Inggris Rock Chart [10] dan Chart Indie Inggris [11]. Meskipun mencapai nomor 1 di Australia, penjualan album dari 3.600 mereka mendapatkan ke sana, adalah yang terendah dalam sejarah tangga lagu ARIA. [12]

Para muda-mudi kota kembang Bandung sudah memenuhi gedung Sasana Budaya Ganesha (Sabuga) sejak sore hari untuk bersiap menyaksikan penampilan band asal Amerika Serikat, Secondhand Serenade. Teriakan anak-anak muda yang kebanyakan wanita sepertinya menandakan rasa tidak sabar untuk menyaksikan John dan teman-temannya beraksi.

Sampai akhirnya, sekitar pukul 20.30 WIB, John Vessely bersama Tom (drum), Lucas (bass) dan Ryan (gitar) muncul dan langsung membuat penonton histeris dengan membawakan lagu pertama berjudul You And I. Sang vokalis, John tampil sederhana dengan kemeja kotak-kotak lengan panjang dan celana jeans.

Histeria penonton tak cukup sampai di situ, berikutnya beberapa lagu seperti Like A Knife, Stranger, dan So Long pun juga mengundang teriakan kencang dari para penonton serta mengikuti irama lagu dan bernyanyi. Animo penonton di gedung Sabuga memang sangat besar. Sehari sebelumnya, tiket yang nyaris sold out pun disempurnakan dengan habisnya tiket pertunjukkan di hari H. Seperti yang penyelenggara konser Surya Professional Mild ucapkan tiket sold out. Sabuga, Sabtu (8/1) malam dipenuhi sekitar 4 ribu pecinta Secondhand Serenade.

Di lagu ke lima, Awake, John pun mulai menyapa para fansnya dengan mengatakan, "Hallo Indonesia." Sadar ketika dirinya bukan berada di Jakarta seperti konser pertamanya di tahun 2009 lalu, sang vokalis pun mengatakan jika dirinya mendapatkan informasi jika Bandung memiliki wanita-wanita yang cantik.

"Saya mendengar, ketika saya berencana ke Bandung, saya mendengar banyak perempuan cantik di sini. Dan saya benar melihatnya. Banyak hal menarik di sini," ujar John.

Lagu Vulnarable jadi salah satu yang dinantikan penonton. John pun memancing teriakan penonton dengan intro lagu tersebut. Tiap kali penonton berteriak, John stop memainkan gitarnya. Terus begitu hingga gemuruh tak tertahankan lagi. Penonton pun tak mau melewatkan momen ketika lagu Your Call akan dibawakan John. Mereka bernyanyi bersama sambil tidak ketinggalan merekam lagu tersebut dengan kamera ponsel.

Dalam konser yang dipromotori Nada Promotama tersebut John dibantu tiga orang musisi yang salah satunya adalah adik kandungnya, Luke Vessely sebagai bassis. Beberapa lagu dibawakan Josh full band tapi tak sedikit juga yang hanya diiringi gitar akustik. Pukul 21.30 WIB, Secondhand Serenade melakukan encore dan kembali dengan membawakan lagu Something More. John duduk di depan keyboardnya dan mendendangkan Reach For The Sky juga Fall For You. Semua penonton ikut bernyanyi dan berdesak-desakan ke depan panggung agar bisa lebih dekat melihat John. Hampir semua langsung mengangkat ponselnya dan merekam lagu tersebut. Lagu ditutup dengan kembang api yang menari di depan panggung.

Di pengujung konsernya pun, tidak seperti biasanya, Seconhand Serenade menyanyikan lagu milik Coldplay berjudul Fix You. lagu ini juga ditandai dengan kembang api dan hujan kertas di pentas Secondhand Serenade.

Tak lupa, John pun mengaku terkesan dengan antusiasme para fansnya. Dirinya pun memberikan kejutan dengan mengucapkan terima kasih dalam bahasa Sunda. "Terima kasih, awewe Bandung gareulis," teriak John. Selanjutnya, Secondhand Serenade akan melanjutkan konser Surya ProMild nya di Gramedia Expo, Surabaya Minggu, (9/1) malam ini.

Ambon (ANTARA News) - Band Killing Me Inside yang beraliran modern rock saat ini sedang menggelar konser keliling Indonesia untuk memperkenalkan karyanya kepada penikmat musik di Tanah Air.

Tidak kurang dari 13 kota besar telah dijadwalkan untuk disinggahi band yang diawaki oleh Onad (vokal), Josaphat (gitar), dan Davi (dram) tersebut.

Menurut Onad, kota yang akan disinggahi adalah Bali, Surabaya, Malang, Jogjakarta, Solo, Semarang, Cirebon, Bandung, Medan, Makassar, Manado, Balikpapan, dan Jakarta.

"Untuk rangkaian tur ini kami sudah memulainya dari Bandung, kami berharap tur bisa berjalan sesuai dengan harapan kami," katanya saat berbincang dengan wartawan di Jakarta, belum lama ini.

Ia menyatakan konser keliling 13 kota besar itu untuk promosi album terbaru "self-tittled" Killing Me Inside, setelah diluncurkan di bawah label PT Royal Prima Musikindo (RPM) pada penghujung 2010.

Memiliki album dan menggelar konser keliling Indonesia adalah sebuah mimpi lama Onad, Josaphat dan Davi yang kini terwujud.

"Punya album dan tur ke seluruh Indonesia adalah impian kami sejak dulu. Musik ini kami dedikasikan buat fans Killing Me Inside di seluruh negeri," kata Josaphat.

"Kami berharap konser keliling ini berlanjut ke kota-kota kecil lainnya di Indonesia," katanya.

Dalam album terbaru ini, Killing Me Inside hadir dengan 12 lagu termasuk nomor hits Biarlah.

Di lagu itu, Onad menunjukkan karakter vokal yang segar lewat lengkingan nada-nada tinggi, sedangkan aroma rock yang kuat disuguhkan oleh Josaphat dan Davi melalui raungan gitar dan sentuhan dram penuh tenaga

Di jalur indie, Killing Me Insiden bukan "barang baru". Band ini memulai perjalanan kariernya pada awal 2006 dan sempat melalui frase bongkar pasang personel.

Dua musisi mantan band itu adalah Raka yang kini bergabung dalam Vierra, dan Sansan yang kini kerja bareng Pee Wee Gaskins.

Ketekunan berlatih dan kegigihan menghadapi tantangan membuat Killing Me Inside mampu meraih dua gelar bergengsi, yakni pemenang kategori Best Indie dan Best New Artist dari ajang Indigo Awards 2010 di Planery Hall JCC Senayan, Jakarta.

Indigo Awards merupakan ajang unjuk kebolehan bagi insan musik berbakat.

Direktur RPM, Octav Panggabean, menyimpan optimisme besar bahwa Killing Me Inside akan menjelma menjadi band dengan nama besar di industri musik tanah air.

Menurut dia, kemampuan bermusik dan pilihan jenis musik Killing Me Inside menjadi salah satu alasan pihaknya bersedia menaungi mereka.

"Saya punya harapan besar terhadap band ini. Mudah-mudahan anak-anak muda ini memiliki attitude yang tetap sama hingga nanti mereka benar-benar menjadi band besar, tetap rendah hati, ramah, dan tidak macam-macam," katanya.(*)
